Our Story
Although our event is a night of fun, laughter, and fundraising, it is also meaningful to us because we are honoring our daughter Olivia. Olivia had a chromosomal disorder called Triploidy which forced us to terminate the pregnancy very far along. A healthy pregnancy changed in seconds and within days we were left with her ashes and no answers. After testing came back we were told she had double the number of chromosomes, and unfortunately would not have survived birth. It was a devastating time for us but we wanted to make sure she was always part of our family. Triploidy is fatal, and there is no current organization that fundraises for the disorder. We knew we wanted to help children but we didn’t know how. We went to a Ronald McDonald House Gala event a few years back and immediately we thought of the organization. Within a few days we were on a conference call with board members from the Ronald McDonald House learning about the organization and what they stand for. When we took a visit to the House we knew this was the perfect fit.
The Ronald McDonald House is steps away from Cohens Children’s Hospital in New Hyde Park. The House has 42 bedrooms which is sponsored from donators like you. These rooms house families who have children that are staying, or receiving treatment at Cohens. These families are going through the worst possible time of their lives, but stepping into the House gives you a sense of sanity. You are greeted with warm smiles, bright colors, fitness rooms, cafeterias that provide food around the clock, play rooms, game rooms, and bedrooms fit for each family. We are grateful to say that the Liv-On Foundation sponsors room 403. When we took the boys to see the room for the first time, there was a sense of pride to know how much we are doing in Olivia’s memory and how many families we help to support during their time of need. The Ronald McDonald organization will continue to grow bigger and better because of you. Our Liv-On Foundation will continue to grow bigger and better because of you. If you have never been to the House before, we encourage you to come! Drop off items, cook a warm meal, donate your time, help deliver gifts during the holiday with us, or maybe join an event committee and learn about how to get involved.
